Top 5 Gifts for New Moms
Last week I asked in a couple mom groups (like the group I run, Pregnant in Ottawa) about things they would actually want to get as gifts.
#5- A Baby Carrier
For little bitty newborns, a stretchy wrap like the Boba is so amazing for keeping you baby nice and close! When they get a little bit older a soft structured carrier like the LÍLLÉbaby is great for keeping your hands free and wearing them in different positions.
#4- Postpartum Care Products
Many moms don’t think to plan for the products they will need after birth, it’s all about the baby! Having friends that do that for you, is an amazing gift! So pick up that 1 item that you loved after baby, like nipple cream or a peri bottle or get a postpartum care pack from a company like Mom Friends! A quality water bottle or a breastfeeding pillow are also great items that get a ton of use!
#3- Gift Certificate To Your Favorite Service
What is something that could really make her feel great after birth? Making her feel pampered! A house cleaner, your favourite ICBLC (Milkface is my go-to), a massage or a photographer ;) , those are all great treats!
#2- Help
That can be as simple as loading/unloading the dishwasher, throwing in some laundry or holding baby while the parents shower or eat a hot meal. If this isn’t something you can offer yourself, a postpartum doula is always happy to lend a hand.
#1- Food!
Speaking of a hot meal…
Food is always a welcome gift because everyone needs to eat. Snacks, easy to make freezer meals that they can just pop into the oven, a hot meal from their favorite restaurant or meals made specifically with the intention of helping a newly postpartum body heal from Mama Sunshine are all great ways to help parents take care of themselves so they can focus on caring for baby.
