“Can you really be a doula and birth photographer?”

The simple answer is, yes!

As an experienced Doula I know when providing hands-on support is needed and when I can take a moment to step away and pull out my camera. With my years of experience, I am confident in my ability to provide guidance to your partner as they support you and know when to capture the images that you will treasure forever.

During birth there are moments where, as your Doula, I need to take a step back and allow your care provider to step in. With camera in hand, I am able to provide emotional support and encouragement while capturing the arrival of your new baby. I have even gotten pretty good at taking photos with one hand while my other hand is busy holding your hand, or a fan, or your foot!

In the picture below, I was asked by the care provider to keep a hand on baby so Mom could have a chance to hold them while her partner held the other baby. You can see my coral nail polish in the photo!

When offering both Doula support and photography at a birth, it is likely that there will be fewer photos, but I am confident that you will still have many beautiful pictures to help tell your story.
