Becoming a doula wasn’t something I’d always envisioned, in fact, it wasn’t something I had even heard of until I became pregnant. After giving birth to my third child at The Ottawa Hospital, Civic Campus. I realized that working as a doula would bring together my passion for working within the community and my love of children and families.

In 2014 I began my journey into doula support. My training includes Birth Doula & Childbirth Education through Childbirth International, Postpartum & Childbirth Education through ProDoula, Birth Companion through Mothercraft Ottawa and a large variety of photography courses. I always aim to stay up to date on recommendations and research, so learning about pregnancy, birth and babies never ends!

Getting to know my clients and working with them to create a unique and personalized approach to birth is one of my greatest strengths as a doula. I guide all the families I work with to discover their own philosophies and values surrounding birth and parenting without imposing any judgments- this is your birth experience, after all.

Bringing birth photography into my practice happened organically, as I began to snap photos of incredible moments with my doula clients. As a child, I had once dreamed about being a sports photographer, and I often think birth photography is quite close to sports photography- one great shot can capture a memory that might otherwise be missed during such an intense moment.

As one of Ottawa’s only doula and birth photographer in-one, my clients get the best of both worlds. Caring and experienced birth support combined with a trained photographer who knows exactly when those blink and miss-it moments are coming.
